Falmouth, Ma – Composite Water Storage Tanks
The Town of Falmouth, Massachusetts engaged Tata & Howard to complete a major upgrade of the water distribution system. The project included the design and construction of three composite elevated tanks, booster pumping station and water system SCADA monitoring and control.
The project was intended to replace aging undersized water storage tanks with two 2 million gallon elevated tanks and create a new high service pressure zone including a 1 million gallon elevated tank and booster pumping station to serve higher elevations. The SCADA system integrated monitoring and control of all water system components including storage tanks, sources, treatment systems and record keeping.
Tata & Howard completed local and state permitting, design and construction administration services for the project. An aggressive schedule spanned four years and included multiple construction contracts. At the conclusion of the project two existing steel and one concrete storage tank on very tight sites were decommissioned and torn down. Project complexities included zoning variances, legal challenges and working with abutters. The 7 million dollar project was completed on time and under budget.
